Madeleine Williams is the new product manager at Milkcrate. She graduated college with a degree in economics in 2014 and has a background in public health research and user experience design. Wanting to get into the digital design space, she completed an intensive user experience design program this spring. She enjoys interviewing users, making concept sketches, nerding out on data and making elaborate to-do lists. She lives in West Philly with her partner Patrick and her cat Miranda.
HOW DID YOU HEAR ABOUT MILKCRATE?
I actually did an internet search of B Corps in Philly when I moved to the city back in March. Milkcrate caught my eye & I kind of marked it as a ‘wishlist’ company — somewhere I’d really like to get involved.
WHAT DREW YOU TO WANT TO GET INVOLVED?
I worked here as a design contractor for a bit and I really enjoyed working with the team. As a young person, sustainability & the future of our planet is a huge concern for me, and I think everyone here shares that drive.
WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE GREEN BUSINESSES or ACTIVITIES?
I’m from central North Carolina, and I have to give a shout out to the Scrap Exchange in Durham, NC. It’s a huge warehouse full of interesting and useful recycled items. I like biking to work. My partner and I enjoy cooking together, and we buy in bulk when we can.
WHAT IMPACT DO YOU THINK MILKCRATE FOR COMMUNITIES CAN HAVE ON AN ORGANIZATION?
If Milkcrate can impact an individual’s daily behavior just a little bit, the cumulative effects could be huge. Also, we’ll soon be able to measure individual and group impact, which is really exciting.
