A recent graduate of Arizona State University, Weston Colby now lives in Doylestown and has recently joined the MilkCrate team as a Business Development Intern. Before MilkCrate, Weston was involved in an alumni run sustainability and business consulting organization, as well as working for the University as a Community Ambassador for off-campus housing. He played lacrosse at ASU and has played sports his whole life including basketball, baseball, and swimming. His competitive edge makes him a great addition to the business team, looking to make connections, gain experience, and contribute right away. When he is not contributing to the business team, Weston likes to stay active and play pick-up basketball, snowboard, cook, and be outdoors.
HOW DID YOU HEAR OF MILKCRATE?
I came across MilkCrate while researching sustainable businesses in my area using the Sustainable Business Network of Greater Philadelphia.
WHAT DREW YOU TO WANT TO GET INVOLVED?
During my freshman year of college, I took a nutrition class where I learned about the food systems in place today and it opened my eyes to the world of sustainability. I realized there are alternative and more resourceful and responsible ways of doing things in agriculture, business, energy, etc. This led me to pursue a degree in Business with a focus in sustainability at the nation’s first School of Sustainability at ASU. Having an entrepreneurial mindset, a passion for sustainability and a foundation of business skills, I am thrilled to be apart of the MilkCrate team.
WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE GREEN BUSINESSES or ACTIVITIES?
I grew up spending time outdoors, hiking, camping, backpacking, snowboarding, scuba diving, mountain biking, and developed a humbled perspective for the natural world at a young age. More daily activities include eating healthy, responsibly sourced or organic food as I like to cook. Some of my favorite sustainable businesses are Patagonia, Tesla, and of course MilkCrate due to their innovation in respective industries.
WHAT IMPACT DO YOU THINK MILKCRATE WILL HAVE ON THE EVERYDAY CONSUMER?
I think that MilkCrate will empower people to live a sustainable lifestyle while giving them the tools to implement it in their daily lives.
