Meet Bienvenido Bueno, or Ben for short, a junior from Drexel University on co-op joining the MilkCrate team this Spring and Summer. Ben is studying Computer Engineering with a focus on the computer science side of things. He’s always had an interest in technology and believes that with its many applications and growth there are many opportunities for his personal interests to intersect in his work.
HOW DID YOU HEAR ABOUT MILKCRATE?
I found about it through my university’s co-op listings for the Spring/Summer period. After looking more into the company, I became more interested in their goals.
WHAT DREW YOU TO WANT TO GET INVOLVED?
I believe the idea of sustainability is important, especially as people and places grow and expand their influence. If they don’t start making the best choices now, they’re only hastening the point of no return by doing more harm than good. Being able to provide support for a platform that promotes that idea is what appeals to me.
WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE GREEN BUSINESSES or ACTIVITIES?
I enjoy stopping by a Sweetgreen every now and then. It’s one of the few places I’ve been where I felt that I can get a salad of good quality, quantity, and value. In general, I try to avoid being wasteful, taking only what I need and reusing items still in good condition.
WHAT IMPACT DO YOU THINK MILKCRATE FOR COMMUNITIES CAN HAVE ON AN ORGANIZATION?
From my experience, making sustainable choices isn’t something that usually crosses people’s minds, especially when their lives are already set into a routine. Bringing awareness to even what seems like a mundane action can make a significant difference. If more people are involved, the little things start to add up.
